Hey, the dances are great of late, and the Tuesday nights are fun. Looking forward to the Halloween dance. Anybody see the funky blonde realtor around lately??? Trying to find her.

My wife and I were married 7 months yesterday and attended the dance at the Sabre room last Friday night.
We were never at that location before and hadn't attended a GTC dance in a few months.
Very nice big room. We saw some faces we hadn't seen in a while.
We had a great time.

Recently some of the line dances have been eliminated due to complaints by people who don't do them. Line dances give women who are not often asked to dance the opportunity to dance without needing a partner. When line dances are played, the dance floor is filled with both men and women having a lot of fun. Line dances are fun for ALL...even if you're just watching.

Way to go, Freddi! You're fast becoming a legend in your own time!
Great mix of music.......

I enjoy the dances much. To the guy that wanted to find the funky blond realtor, don't as she's trouble with a big T.

Charley, I suggest that you announce the New Years Eve dance soon...There are many choices for people and they usually make their plans around this time..I need to make a decision as do others ..thanks..

Good idea for the $2 admission b4 8:15; should get more people in the door early. Happy New Year!

Freddie? I luv ya, but what was with ALL the slow dances on Saturday at the Glendora? I had to leave out of boredom. While I was there, I think I heard close to 20 slow dances. Please don't do that to us again..Thanks!

Have enjoyed Charlies dances for 7 years now. But the average age at the dances has gotten a bit high. I would hope that something would be tried to get new people there in the 40-55 age group.
Otherwise pretty soon there will be no one at the dance under 70. No offense to anyone, just my observation.

Early Feb was my first GTC dance. The initial impression was mixed. I do like the size and atmosphere of the Glendora House, but was put off by the number of line dances. I realize that it is the intention to please all who attend. However, ballroom, swing and salsa lessons have not included line dancing in the year that I have been taking them.

As for the comment someone left about the age range, well I see that age is higher at social dances, and for a singles venue, too many couples show up also. You just have to hope for the best.

See ya soon.

Freddie & Charlie,
Thanks for the good mix of dance songs, especially the slow songs, which allow people to communicate and get to know one another. After all, this is a singles dance, with the intention of singles getting to know each other.
Some faster songs are fine too, but please don't contaminate the the atmosphere with rap crap, or similar obnoxious noise. We are not teenyboppers. Thanks

To the above blogger. Since when are Charlie Dances a venue for the Dance Studio students only ? Every one there wants to dance including the line dancers...Just look and see the amount of people on the dance floor when a line dance is played. Any way this is primarily a Singles Venue but remember, all the couples you see may have met at these dances and still enjoy coming to socialize there with their friends. Plus think about what would happen if these same couples you speak of did not come. Low numbers and maybe Charlie would not be able to foot the bills. So let's not be so hasty to criticize. Just have fun when you go and if you meet someone fine, if not maybe next time.

The dances are great and the more you attend, the more people you get to know. However, it would be nice if Charley and the people you help him would have a little more respect for the people who support his dances. Whatever the weather, rain, snow, hail, windstorms, thunder, lightning, freezing cold, sweltering hot........we are forced to stand outside locked doors and made to feel like a herd of cattle, waiting for the doors to be unlocked and then to be squashed into another corridor and wait and wait again.
Certain people are allowed to enter early (and free of charge) and be able to save their favorite tables. It's always the same people. Why doesn't Charley ask for volunteers instead of favoring the same people.
Years ago myself and the person I was dating at that timetaing would be asked by Charley to help. We would light candles and do whatever was needed. But we (unlike the current helpers) would help Charley and then go back out and wait in line like everyone else and PAY get in!!!

I love to meet with my friends and to have a good time at the singles nights. I am missing Singles dances at the Willowbrook Ballroom. The dance floor is much nicer and it does have much more space as well as small tables set up around the ballroom which make you feel more intimate. I would like to go back at least once in a while. Me and my friends we all feel the same. I am wondering if Charley has any plans to go back to the Willowbrook to host his dances there???? 

Whenever I visit Chicago about two to three times a year, I visit dance venues. While at the Heart & Sole dance studio in Tinley Park, IL last summer, I was approached by some of the guests, who claimed to be Good Time Charley patrons, to attend Good Time Charley dances. My chief concern from reading posts here and from http://gtcsingles.com/aboutus.htm are the quality of dancers, types of dances, choice of music and floor type and size. For example, with respect to floor type, I appreciate a wood floor that floats vs one that is laminated or is sitting on concrete. Types of dances would include ballroom with a variety of smooth and rhythm choices: waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, swing, west coast, salsa and hustle. Attracting dance studio dancers would be a plus, though I have read a few comments suggesting that those dancers are not particularly appreciated. I do understand that there are a variety of dance venues available, but would attend if there were some studio trained dancers. If dances here were of the type, which I might describe as "hug and sway," I would be inclined not to attend. If there might be opportunities to glide on the floor for a waltz or foxtrot, I probably would attend. I plan to in Chicago next weekend and I am split at the moment between dancing at Mayi and Charley's. Comments are appreciated. Thank you.

Can't wait for some more dances at Glendora; it's the greatest. Best dance floor, parking lot, bars, etc. Great going Charlie!
